Dundalk Institute of Technology, Ireland

Dundalk Institute of Technology is a third level educational institution located approximately 80km north of Dublin and lying just 10km with the border with Northern Ireland. There are four schools within the college: the School of Engineering, the School of Infomatics and Creative Arts, the School of Health and Science and the School of Business and Humanities.

Archaeology electives are offered as part of the BA Digital Humanities course within the Department of Humanities.

Archaeological research undertaken includes the following:

  • Lithic Scatters and Geophysical Surveys in Brú na Bóinne WHS with Landscape and Geophysical Services (LGS)
  • Hill of Slane Archaeological Project (LiDAR and Geophysics) with LGS and University College Dublin (UCD). (See http://hillofslane.wordpress.com).
  • INSTAR Boyne Valley Landscapes Project with UCD
  • The Rossnaree Enclosure Excavation Project in the Brú na Bóinne WHS with LGS (see http://rossnareedig.wordpress.com).
